Wyclef Jean's hardcore fans meet Yahoo employees and significant others!! Bad dancing ensues. It wasn't too hard to pick out who from the crowd was from Yahoo. And I'm pretty sure my lanky white kid frame sold me out pretty quickly. But Wyclef didn't seem to mind. I fully expected him to mail this one in. A sparsely attended Monday night show in Century City full of flacks and a few real fans. But I have to give the man credit: he brought it.

After the old-man producer lead us in a horribly forced, nightmarish warm-up dance party (picture the worst episode of Soul Train ever) in order to gain some backup footage, Wyclef proceeded to jump (fly?) on stage, freestyle like a madman, play several instruments, diss Oakland, climb up on a railing, lead 100+ sober white kids in arm waving, diss Lauryn Hill, shout out to Haiti and NYC, don a Carnival-style mask, thoughtfully answer fan questions, diss the production guy, and make me laugh really damn hard. Not bad for a 40-minute set.

Maybe it's because he knew it was being filmed, but I prefer to believe that Wyclef is just a pro who brings his A-game every night. And if this wasn't his true A game, then he's a hell of a C student.
