The problem with LA is that you need to buy tickets months in advance for most shows. There are just too many people in this town and shows sell out quickly. The problem with my job is that I have no idea whether I'll be in LA two weeks from now. This adds up to a lot of missed shows. This also leads me to attend some shows under ridiculous circumstances. Lately this means going out the night before a 6am flight. But for CYHSY, there was really no debate. That band--along with the Troubadour--brings crazy memories replete with heavy nostalgia that I won't bore you with here.
Their last show at the Fonda was a bit of a letdown. I don't know if I was the band, the venue, or just me, but something seemed off. But back at the Troubadour, all was right in the world. CYHSY even provided a few surprises, which is much appreciated when you've just seen the band a few months prior supporting the same album. They mixed up the tempo and mood on some of the tracks, they played a few rarities, and the set design was very intimate. A very different show, but in a good way. And my date looked even hotter than the last CHYSY Troubador show.
Yes, the 3:30am wakeup call really, really hurt.

that's the trade-off
i often complain that:
BUT... i can buy tickets even when the show is just beggining :D
